Affiliate incentives

What do you consider a good incentive to join an affiliate program.
Besides the payout - what kind of promos?

Things like reaching x sales and your commish increases by x
Reaching a target for a prize
Different target levels for different prizes

I think that levels for better payouts attracts me most - eg 1-100 leads $1.00 101-250 $1.50 etc

tbh epc is just a guide to me - i tend to look at the range of offers - whats exclusive to them and also a quick google of any complaints people have...

I dunno what epcs is and all that stuff, but once i've found a niche,
i look for a merchant that seems down to earth, not full of millionaire
promises.  (why join up with a bullshit artist?)

i look for a good profit margin, of course. and i compare the profit/sale
with my estimate of the difficulty to get targeted traffic.

and i look for word of mouth, from someone i trust, that they fuking pay.
