What methods do you guys use for acquiring top affiliates for a product launch?

Using incentives is a positive that will cause more interest in your program and is effective.
However sometimes it is not the quantity of affiliates but the quality...

What methods do you guys use for acquiring top affiliates for a product launch?

Go to abestweb.com.  Join the forum.  Go to the Midnite cafe.  Start reading posts.  Do some responses in the various areas.  Careful tho, these are mostly whitey-tightie snobish types.

Make note of the posters who have 3k or more posts.  After you have enough posts to do PM, then contact the short list with your offer.

(A real good friend of mine owns a company and has his own aff program.  He says..."you only need 30-40 top notch affiliates")  YMMV
