So I have been submitting my articles to the major article directories, I think I have a pretty good tactic, but I still haven't seen any traffic from it. Is article submission the way to go, or have you guys found something else out to generate traffic?

Drop your link everywhere. dont think about PR, nofollow, comment moderation, blahblahblah - just do and think (evaluate) later

article submission works if you give the articles some links so they rank.

I disagree with that. "Dropping links everywhere" is a quick way to become known as a spammer.
Article submission can take time to show results, just wait until people start using your articles on their sites (with back links intact of course).

as a spammer myself on occasion - dropping links where you can is a valid way of doing things but it depends on your longer term strategy i suppose

OH, we're supposed to leave those in there?

Continue article submission. Put up your link wherever possible in text itself or atleast in resource box. It will give you traffic over a time.
