Blog and ping. Tag and Ping. These filled all the ping services with spam.
Now they are honeypots imo.  dry

I ping my sites directly instead of first creating blogs and adding my site links and then ping the blogs.
It works just as well for me and I haven't had server wide wipeouts after I stopped creating blogs, so you are probably right about the honeypots when it comes to the blogging part or maybe I have just been lucky  cheer

I'm with Ekim on this one.

Although, I do still use other folks to ping for me sometimes.
Depends on how long I need the page to stay alive.  Make
a comment on a ummmm, well read blog and wait.  The
Roosians will ping it for me.   24

Diff IP's for diff places?

Yep.  Have to agree about the g blog svcs.  I did a little trick test last week and was astounded at how fast g sent the traffic.  Amazing.

In case any of you need the link to use in your auto pinger, here it is:

hehe, yea, somone added them, not me. they are all valid though, so, meh why not. I do wonder if redundancy like that though is potentially harmful to a blog? like maybe you should only ping the one you actually need? I dunno though, i just ping em all.

I have always felt that pressing ping several times 'feels' better but probably has little effect good or bad tbh....
